About Quipus
Quipus Capital is an investment knowledge repository, i.e. a growing compendium of information about companies and industries, from the perspective of a long-biased, long-term, operator-mindset investor.
I look at hundreds of global companies, read a lot, and build expert networks. I condense all that information in Quipus and send it to you, ideally not more than once or twice a month. As time passes, I hope Quipus registers a great lot of long-lived valuable information.

My strategy/philosophy
I evaluate companies with some clear guidelines:
I’m okay with spending a lot of time on a company without investing in it. I’m not trying to spam you with buy recommendations.
Operations, positioning, and strategy are more critical than financial statements. I pay close attention to what industry members think.
Knowledge compounds, so I look at companies in the same industry.

My name is Tomas Andrade (Tommy for ease of English speakers).
I’m absolutely passionate about economics, history, and culture. I love reading and learning.
Financial research is the medium through which those passions generate value in society. When I first understood that knowledge is everything in finance and that intense curiosity compounds in value, I knew right away that this was the career for me.
I have been investing my savings since late 2020 and early 2021, writing for Seeking Alpha since 2021 and writing Quipus Capital since late 2023. I’ve done several consulting and research stints and worked for almost a year in a small-cap tech-focused fund from California in 2023. I passed all three levels of CFA and majored in Business Management.
Besides finance, I’m also a nerd for languages (including professional-level Chinese) and worked as a freelance programmer for some time.
I’m 28 and live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, my birthplace. I also lived in China and Italy for a few years.
